Materialism and a Camera (EOS 30D)

Wow. Today I've finally got back in touch with a long lost friend: the lust for technological gadgets. Only the best will do. Here's my new object of desires: the Canon EOS 30D and the newly announced 17-55 F2.8 IS lens. Photography enthusiasts can tell from that "F2.8" that this lens isn't going to be cheap. And because that camera body is a brand-new digital SLR, it's not cheap either. The combination seems to be the best I should long for, among the things that make sense even for a photo-crazy guy who doesn't make money with pictures. Does anyone need a wedding photographer?
Anyway, please note that my birthday is in 10 days.

Granted, that's 13 days from now. Three extra days for the world to satisfy my consumerist desires!!!
