Fraser Island > |

Fraser island is a huge sand bank (115km or so) off the Fraser coast. It has lakes, beaches and rainforest - and some tourists. This is a freshwater creek (hence the eel). |

me with my new Noosa shirt in front of Sandy rocks on Fraser. The island is pretty rough to live on - some 2000 Aborigines did, however. Some day, Captain Fraser got stranded with his boat. The legend says he died of starvation as the inhabitants of the island refused to feed him, since he was heavily overweight and couldn't do his share of work in the community. His wife Elizabeth survived, and the island was named after her. |

Captain cook has found the island way earlier, and that's when European Christians loved their neighbors (the Fraser natives) so much that they brought diseases and poisoned water to eradicate the people of Fraser. None left. |

The Maheno shipwreck - they left on the beach when she stranded here for the second time. |

I suspect this boat will be gone in a few decades... |

This is beautiful Lake McKenzie - clear water, sandy shores. (The sunburn was pretty bad...) |
